Chief Executive Officer

Basketball New Zealand is the national sporting organisation responsible for the development, promotion, governance and control of basketball throughout New Zealand.

New Zealand’s reputation in the international basketball community has grown considerably in recent years following exceptional performances at all levels of participation and competition. Domestically, the game has never been stronger with an estimated 240,000 people playing basketball throughout New Zealand.

The board is committed to strengthening and broadening the services, role and activities of Basketball New Zealand and is seeking a chief executive officer to drive and deliver these plans.

As chief executive officer, you will be responsible for building the Basketball New Zealand business, ensuring its future development and success through a range of commercial, sport and participatory focussed programs.

This role encompasses all aspects of a chief executive role including; relationship management, operations, financial management and leading a team. You will need to be flexible to operate at both a strategic and tactical level, working alongside your team to achieve the objectives of Basketball New Zealand.

This is a prized New Zealand sport management role with the opportunity to work in a sport with a reach from grass root to Olympic level.

Candidates for this position will have substantial experience operating at an executive level within an organisation with multiple stakeholders. A background in sports management or the sport of basketball is considered valuable. Although a tertiary qualification is preferred it is not essential.

This position is based in Wellington, however the nature of the position requires out of hours work and domestic and international travel. Please email jaimie@basketball.org.nz.
