Programme Overview

Basketball New Zealand will conduct three development cluster camps per age-group in 2009.

These camps form a key part of Basketball New Zealand’s player, coach and manager pathway providing development opportunities, identification and an entry point for Basketball New Zealand’s high performance development programme.

The first camps in each age group are open to all athletes nominated by association coaches or officials, the other two will be for identified athletes only.

Who attends?

Players who exhibit the potential to play above school and association level seeking to be involved in Basketball New Zealand’s development programme and who are nominated by Basketball New Zealand or association coaches and personnel. Cluster camps are also for coaches and support staff looking for further development opportunities and/or exposure to Basketball New Zealand activities and programmes.

Identification and notification

At each custer camp, athletes will be identified for the future clusters and potentially higher level programmes. Athletes not identified or not in attendance at the first clusters will have the opportunity for identification at other Basketball New Zealand events and tournaments. Identified athlete lists will be posted on the BBNZ website within two weeks of the cluster.

Links to 2010 Koru Development Tour

Players and coaches seeking to be part of the Koru Development Tour to Australia in 2010 must attend development cluster camps, however the camps are not limited to Koru Tour trialists. Athletes unable to participate on the Koru Tour are still encouraged to attend.
