Lindsay Gaze

  • Player in 1960, 1964 and 1968 Olympics;
  • Coach of Australian team at 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984 Olympics;
  • Coached 689 NBL games with 363 victories (52.6%);
  • Two NBL championships 1993 and 1997;
  • Three times NBL Coach of the Year 1989, 1997, 1999;
  • Member Australian Basketball Hall of Fame as player and coach;
  • Associate member of Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) for role as coach and member of SAHOF board;

Andrej Lemanis

Andrej has been at the helm of the Burger King NZ Breakers over the past 6 years and this past season lead the team to the NBL Championship. He has grown a reputation as one of Australasia’s top coaches and at the end of the 2008/09 season Lemanis was honoured by being named as one of the Assistant Coaches to Australian National Mens team, the Boomers.

Dean Vickerman

Dean is the Assistant coach with the Championship winning NZ Breakers, prior to which he served as an Assistant with the North Melbourne Giants, Melbourne Tigers and the Singapore Slingers.  He was Assistant coach for the New Zealand Tall Blacks and this year has been appointed the Head coach New Zealand University mens team.

Judd Flavell

Judd is the Assistant Coach with the Championship winning NZ Breakers and Head Coach of the Basketball Development Academy. Flavell continues to work brilliantly with the young talent in the game, teaching them not only how to cope on the court but also in areas of leadership and responsibility off the court. The Academy program has grown over the past 5 years and has been a key part of the Breakers development model, helping bridge the gap between youth and professional basketball.

Nenad Vucinic

Vucinic, who guided the Tall Blacks to 12th at the world championship in Turkey last year, has most recently coached in the Italian second division with Forli. He has been heavily involved in New Zealand basketball throughout this century playing in the Tall Blacks in the early 2000 to assisting Tab Baldwin through the World Championships in 2002, before taking over the Head role. Vucinic has held and developed further the culture of Tall Black basketball and this year prepares again to take on the Boomers with lead up tournaments in China and Europe.

Andy Barnett

Andy has recently arrived from North America to join the NZAS Strength & Conditioning Team. He brings a wealth of high performance experience and knowledge to NZ. With over 20 years of experience with professional athletes his work includes time at the International Performance Institute and Athletes Performance developing Strength & Power programs, position specific speed and agility programs for athletes in the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and NBA ‘five man’ clinics. During this time he also coached alongside Michael Johnson conducting NFL Combine Preparation Camps. He was a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the New York Giants of the NFL, and for Canada’s Olympic Sports for 3 Olympic Games and has worked with over 20 Gold Medalists. Andy started his Strength and Conditioning career at his Alma Mater, the University of Wyoming. Andy is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), a certified Olympic Weightlifting Coach and a Performance Enhancement Specialist (U.S. National Academy of Sports Medicine).

Dillon Boucher

Dillon Boucher is one of New Zealand top basketball minds, and has had, and continues to have a massive impact on the game as a player and coach. Representing the Tall Blacks through the 2000s Boucher made the move to Assistant coach of the Tall Blacks alongside Nenad Vucinic on retirement from International basketball. Dillon is still playing in the ANBL for the NZ Breakers and in the local NZ NBL for the Auckland Pirates.
