Format

24 teams split into four pools of six for pool play; top two teams in each pool advance to the championship quarterfinals, next two in each pool move through to 9th-16th playoffs, next two in each pool go to 17-24th playoffs.

Score Bench

The Palmerston North Basketball Association will endeavor to provide score bench, but we do ask that teams be prepared to help out when requested.

9.30am-9.45pm: Pool games
2.45pm Coaches Workshop, Court B&M3

9am-8.15pm: Pool games
2.15pm Coaches Workshop, Court B&M3

Wednesday 1 October
9.30am-4pm: Pool games
7.30pm-11.00pm Social Event, Te Manawa

The finals day will include:

  • 3 Point Shoot Out, Arena 2, Arena Manawatu
  • Student City Slam Dunk Competition, Arena 2, Arena Manawatu
  • UCOL All Star Game, Arena 2, Arena Manawatu
  • 9am-12.30pm: Playoff games
  • 2.15pm: Girls Final, Arena 2, Arena Manawatu
  • 5.30pm: Boys Final, Arena 2, Arena Manawatu
  • 7.30pm: Closing Ceremony, Arena 2, Arena Manawatu

Coaches Workshop

There will be a coaches workshops held at the tournament; Wednesday, October 1 at 7pm at B&M Centre. The sessions will cover:

  • Shooting - line shooting for form / breaking down the detail to shooting
  • Training Programme - individual off season program / with the season coming to an end the most important time of the year for future stars approaches.
  • The off-season - what you do over the next few months will have far more of an impact on next season than most coaches or players are aware of

On-line Draw and Results

BBNZ is using new software for the draw and results. These can be viewed on the BBNZ website (http://www.basketball.org.nz/competitions/tournaments/secondary-school-tournaments-2/secondary-school-tournaments/). Results will be updated daily.

Tournament T-Shirts

Pre-purchased tournament t-shirts will be available from the tournament control room for pick-up. A limited number of tournament t‑shirts will be on sale from the tournament control room.

Door Charge

Adults: $5 daily, $25 week pass
Children (12 and Under): $2 daily, $10 week pass

Canteen

Available on site in the B&M Centre.

Social

All players and management are invited to attend a social evening on Wednesday October 1 from 7.30-11pm. The social will be held at the Palmerston North Convention Centre and will cost $5 per player - free for management. Light snacks and water will be provided with non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase.

Format

Boys: 12 teams split into two pool of six for pool play, top two teams in each pool advance to championship semifinals, next two in each pool advance to 5th-8th semifinals, next two move on to 9th-12th semis.
Girls: Seven teams in one pool for pool play, top two teams meet in the final, next two play for third and next two for fifth.
