2011 U18 & U20 Regional Camp and U18 Koru Camp
Programme Overview
BBNZ High Performance Regional Development Camps are conducted to deliver national level programmes on a regional basis. The programme is targeted at all national junior squad athletes and staff as well as individuals identified with the potential to participate in that level of programme.
BBNZ’s High Performance Development Programme has been revised to take a long-term, on-going approach to talent development and identification focused on:
- Athlete-centred programming
- On-going long-term development and selection
- Pathways from local programmes to national representation
- A co-ordinated approach to develop New Zealand athletes, coaches and staff to an international standard
- International standards through international exposure
This camp is for invited athletes only and organised in the first instance to align with U18 (1995 & 1996) and U20 (1993 & 1994); to compete in the Australian State Champs. Also, participating in this camp are the U18 Koru athletes, who fall into the U18 & U20 age groups.
Implicit to the programme is providing clear and transparent pathways from participation level programmes (school,
recreation) to representative programmes (Associations, Elite Schools) and elite programmes (National Teams), and
working in partnership with the key drivers of those programmes. The establishment of the three levels of the
framework that sit between representative and elite level is a crucial element of establishing this pathway not only for
players but for coaches and officials.
