New Zealand to face the USA in basketball showcase

The Tall Blacks have been drawn to face powerhouse and current World Champions, the United States, in September’s FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The Draw took place in Spain this morning (NZ time), with New Zealand and the USA placed in Pool C, alongside the Dominican Republic, Turkey, Finland and Ukraine. Pool play will take place in the northern Spanish city of Bilbao. Continue reading »

Official Draw of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup

Last Thursday, FIBA unveiled the official ball that will be used during the competition. On Friday they introduced the official Mascots, Ole and Hop. Yesterday, FIBA’s Central Board decided to award the four largely awaited wild cards to Brazil (#10 in FIBA Ranking Men), Finland (#39), Greece (#5) and Turkey (#7).

Tomorrow, don’t miss the Official Draw of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup! You can watch it on Youtube and on the FIBA App, live from Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona at 19:00 CET. The draw will determine where your teams are going to play in the Preliminary Round and who their opponents will be.
