Pledger is a newcomer to the national squad, having represented the Junior Tall Blacks previously.
He has spent two years at college in the United States, but his 2007/08 season with the Kangaroos was curtailed by injury.
Pledger spent some time with Coach Vucinic in Nelson leading into the 2008 Tall Black trials and was selected as a project, offering much needed height and a shot-blocking presence on defence, but needing to develop an offensive game to become a force at international level.
