Casey Frank

Teams: Auckland Stars & Gold Coast Blaze (Australia)

Position: Forward

Born: October 23, 1977 at Port Jefferson, New York (US)

Height: 2.03m

Frank came to New Zealand in 2002 to play for the Stars in the NBL and has made a home here.

One of the league’s most entertaining dunkers, he helped Auckland to titles in 2004 & 2005, and was voted joint winner of the Outstanding Forward award and to the All-Star Five in ‘05.

Frank went even better in 2006, named Outstanding Kiwi Forward, Outstanding Forward, Kiwi MVP and All-Star Five member. He repeated that sweep in 2008.

Since leaving Northern Arizona University, he has played professionally in the United States, France and Sweden, and was an import with the NZ Breakers in their debut season until cut mid-season.

He enjoyed a breakout season with the Wollongong Hawks in the 2006/07 Australian NBL and signed for the expansion Gold Coast franchise next summer.

Frank debuted for the Tall Blacks in China in 2005 and gained NZ citizenship for inclusion in the 2006 Commonwealth Games team, but was ousted from the “naturalised” spot on the national roster by Nick Horvath in 2008.
