Webster was a bolter in the 2008 NZ Tall Black squad without having even played in the national league, the youngest international since Kirk Penney 10 years earlier.

The son of NBL legend and current Harbour Heat coach Tony Webster, he twice won MVP honours while leading Westlake Boys High School to the NZ Secondary Schools title and was TranSouth Conference Freshman of the Year while playing for NAIA Lambuth University.

Deciding US college life wasn’t for him, Webster signed on as a development player with the NZ Breakers for 2008/09.
