Australian NBL Team: NZ Breakers

Born: November 23, 1980 in North Shore
Height: 1.95m
During an outstanding college career with University of Wisconsin, Penney helped the Badgers to NCAA Sweet Sixteen in his senior year and two Big 10 conference titles, and was twice named all-conference.
He was NBL Rookie of the Year in 1998 when he helped North Harbour to the final.
Penney has now represented New Zealand at two Olympics and two world championships, averaging 16.9 points at the 2002 world championships at Indianapolis.
He became the second Kiwi in the NBA when he appeared for the Miami Heat in 2003, also had a brief stint with the LA Clippers, and has since played professionally in Spain, the NBA Development League, Israel, Lithuania and Germany.
Penney played with the NZ Breakers in last summer’s Australian NBL, finishing as the third leading scorer (24.0 points) and earning selection to the All-NBL Team.
