Lindsay Tait
Teams: Wellington Saints & Wollongong Hawks (Australia)
Position: Guard
Born: January 8, 1982 in Sydney, Australia
Height: 1.90m
Tait made his international debut against the Czech Republic in 2003 after several years as one of New Zealand’s most promising players and is now establishing his game at the international level.
With veterans Mark Dickel and Paul Henare unavailable, he made the starting point guard spot is own during the national team’s 2008 Olympic qualifying campaign.
Tait has dominated the NBL guard awards over recent seasons, and was voted league MVP and Kiwi MVP in 2005.
He has been on four All-Star Fives and his increasing maturity at the point helped Auckland to the 2004 & 2005 titles.
His 2006 season and world championship hopes were curtailed by a broken wrist, but he came back in ’07 to share Outstanding Kiwi Guard honours and challenge for the league scoring title.
Tait played for the NZ Breakers during their first three seasons in the Aussie league, but crossed the ditch to the Wollongong Hawks for a 2007/08 season cut short by a shoulder injury.
