Henare debuted for New Zealand in 1998 and is now vastly experienced, having played at two Olympics, two world championships and a Commonwealth Games.
The teamÃs safest ball handler has won four NBL assist titles, was voted to All-Star Fives in 2002 & 2005, and has won three championships, most recently with the Hawks in 2006.
He has played in the Yugoslavian national league under current Tall Black coach Nenad Vucinic, has spent four seasons with the NZ Breakers (two as captain) and also had a stint with Turkish club Banvitspor under former Tall Black coach Tab Baldwin.
