Waikato Pistons rookie swingman Thomas Abercrombie wins Round 13 Player of the Week in the NZCT National Basketball League being the second time he has won the honor.

Abercrombie won POW back in Round Three against the McDonalds Manawatu Jets when he had 12 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks.

In Round Thirteen Abercrombie was sensational leading his Pistons side to two wins keeping them at the top of the table and clinching a home semi final with the win over the Saints.

Against the Appliance Shed Harbour Heat he had 19 points (6/11 FG, 2/3 3pt), 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals in the 75-69 win. He backed it up with 17 points (5/10 FG, 4/5 3pt), 10 rebounds 5 assists and 5 blocks in the 76-63 win over the Century City Saints.

In 15 games this season Abercrombie is averaging 15.9 points, 7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He also has had league highs of 19 rebounds and 6 blocks in a game.

Jets import Marcel Jones has returned to the top of the overall player power rankings knocking off Saints import Mike Efevberha for the seond time this season. Youthtown Auckland Stars Dillon Boucher is second place followed by Efevberha.

After 13 rounds the race to the regular season will come down to two teams the Waikato Pistons and the ecogise Nelson Giants. If the Pistons beat the Stars then they will secure the regular season, but if they lose and the Giants beat the Heat then the Giants will finish on top.
