With their second straight championships secured, St Patrick’s College and Church College were further rewarded with three players selected in the boys and girls AA Secondary Schools National Championships tournament teams on Saturday.
Two-time MVP Brook Ruscoe was joined by his captain Jake Ashby and inside powerhouse Tipene Friday in the boys tournament team.
Beaten finalists Hamilton’s Fraser High had Matt Aird and Daniel Green selected, while third-placed Church College had Jivarne Joseph and Jared Whippy selected, joining Rangitoto College’s Marko Alexander, Otago Boys High’s Tom Rowe and St Andrew’s College’s Logan van Beek.
Church College’s Letava Whippy won her second straight girls MVP and was joined in the tournament team by team-mates Austin Rarere and Moengaroa Subritzky, Rangitoto College’s Milika Nathan and Mikayla Blair, New Plymouth Girls High’s Zoe Kensington, Waimea College’s Jelena Vucinic, Massey High’s Mesha Blair, Hamilton Fraser High’s Fran Hansen and St Kentigern College’s Jordan Hunter.
