Wellington’s Steven Adams and Hawke’s Bay’s Josie Stockill claimed the most valuable player glassware at the BBNZ U17 National Championships in Palmerston North on Monday.

Adams top-scored with 19 points as Wellington defeated West Auckland 73-71 for the boys championship, while Stockill finished with 13 points as Hawke’s Bay claimed the girls title with a 67-53 win over Waitakere City.

Named alonside Adams in the boys tournament team was team-mate Chris McIntyre, and Emerging Junior Tall Blacks Michael Karena (Nelson), James Ashby (West Auckland) and Alonzo Burton (Hawke’s Bay).

Stockill, an Emerging Junior Tall Fern, led a tournament team full of her national team-mates, Waitakere City’s Moengaroa Subritzky, Counties Manukau’s Aleesha Coulter, Waikato’s Georgia Agnew and Wellington’s Kayla Kiriau.
