Athlete Scholarships Available

Applications are now open for Prime Ministerís Athlete Scholarships, a chance for talented Kiwis to study and develop their sporting talent at the same time.

The scholarships are managed by SPARC and administered by the New Zealand Academy of Sport (NZAS), subsidizing academic fees up to a maximum of $10,000 per annum and living allowances to $6000.

Changes to the programme mean the scholarships will now be aligned to SPARCís high performance strategy, athletes from any sport will be considered as long as they meet criteria and no sport will be guaranteed a quota.

Athletes must satisfy the following criteria Ö

ï Show their ability to impact SPARCís high performance mission - More New Zealanders winning on the world stage

ï Submit a complete application

ï Endorsement by their national sporting organization

ï Have fulfilled all requirements if studying under scholarship in the previous 12 months

It is unlikely there are enough funds for award all applicants a scholarship, so applications will be assessed by SPARC.

Basketball New Zealand will prioritise the applications received by the deadline above and send endorsed applications to the NZAS. Successful applicants will be notified by the NZAS no later than December 24.
