The New Zealand girls ended pool play winless and will play for 13th on Saturday at the Australia Under-16 National Championships in Kalamunda, Western Australia.
Aleesha Coulter top-scored with 16 points and four rebounds as the Kiwis fell 73-65 to Tasmania in round seven, their sixth straight loss and will meet Northern Territory in the 13th-14th playoff on Saturday morning.
Moengaroa Subritzsky added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists for NZ, who led 18-17 after opening quarter but fell behind by four at halftime and eight after three periods. Shannon Perrett also had 12 points and four rebounds.
The NZ boys sat out round seven of pool play with the bye, finishing fourth in pool B at 3-3, setting up a match-up with New South Wales Country in the fifth-eighth playoff bracket on Friday night.
