Former Junior Tall Black Lance Baker led the Gold Coast Goannas to a 129-69 romp over Gladstone Power in the Queensland Australian Basketball League.
Baker, who last played in the NBL for Waikato Titans, scored 24 points (8/15 FG, 4/11 3pt, 4/5 FT), adding five rebounds, five assists and two steals in a game-high 38 minutes as the Goannas improved to 9-6 for the season.
Former NZ Secondary Schools MVP Tyrone Davey had 19 points (6/20 FG, 3/7 3pt, 4/5 FT) and four rebounds as Maroochydore Clippers fell 114-142 to Logan Thunder. With fellow Kiwi Zane Meehl not suiting up, the Clips fell to 9-7 for the season.
Meanwhile, former Junior Tall Fern Shannon Proffit recorded a ìdouble doubleî as the Maroochydore women edged Caloundra Suns 63-56.
Proffit had 17 points (7/11 FG, 1/1 3pt, 2/2 FT), 11 rebounds, five steals, three blocks and two assists in 37 minutes.
For good measure, she also accumulated 14 points (5/9 FG, 4/4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks as the Clippers toppled Logan Thunder 78-55 and improved to 13-3.
For the Thunder, Kiwi-born Va Aokuso had 13 points (1/2 FG, 9/10 FT), eight rebounds, three steals and a block.
