Basketball Pacific, a member association of Basketball New Zealand, will hold trials for its 2010 Sydney Cup and Pacific Coast Slam Tour next month.
Trials for athletes U17 and U15 as at December 31, 2010, will be held at Unitec Stadium, Auckland, from 9-11.30am (U15) and 11.30am-2pm (U17) on Saturday, August 8; and at St John’s College, Hamilton, from 9am-12pm (U15) and 1-4pm (U17) on Sunday, August 9.
The trials will cost $15 per athlete, which provides for 2 1/2 hours skills development sessions run by Basketball Pacific regional coaches, and information about BBNZ player pathways.
To be eligible, athletes must be a registered player from one of the nine Basketball Pacific (North) associations – North Harbour, Whangarei, Waikato, Counties Manukau, Western Bay of Plenty, West Auckland, Waitakere City, Thames Valley and Rotorua.
Costs for the tour from January 11-21, 2010, which provides a chance for international competition for athletes in the lower-age of BBNZ’s traditional Koru Tour U18 and U16 age-groups, are estimated at $2850.
