Saturday, July 28
Auckland, Wanganui, Blenheim & Invercargill
The first Development Cluster Camps were held on the last weekend of April at five venues across the country. This a new initiative from Basketball New Zealand and the camps were attended by more than 400 athletes and over 70 coaches.
The camps are a development opportunity for athletes, coaches and staff who show the potential to perform at higher levels of the sport, exposing them to a nationally coordinated programme, curriculum and philosophies.
The Development Cluster Camps also provide another opportunity for the identification of participants for national level programmes.
Another key element of the Development Cluster Camp programme is working in partnership with associations in talent identification. Athletes registering for the first camps were asked to have their nominations endorsed by association personnel and coaches.
The second Development Cluster Camps, on July 28, will be by invitation only. Please note, athletes in national team programmes are not eligible for these camps.

If there are any athletes who were not present at the first cluster who association lead coaches feel have the ability to play at a higher level, contact BBNZ coaching & development manager Ollie Dudfield to discuss their inclusion in the next camps.
Associations should also encourage coaches and staff who have the potential or desire to be involved at a higher level of the sport to nominate for the programme. ALL Association coaches are invited to attend the cluster camps and observe the programme, as well as attend the free coaching clinic held in conjunction with each cluster.
This invitation is not only extended to coaches, but managers and administrative personnel who would like to be involved with a national programme, and observe Basketball New ZealandÃs managerial and administrative processes for camps.
