The Jimmy Possum Bendigo Spirit has signed New Zealand international player Lisa Pardon for its inaugural defencejobs Australian WNBL season.

The 2006 Commonwealth games silver medallist has spent the past three years playing in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) for North West Tasmania (2005/06) and Launceston (2007).

Pardon is currently ranked sixth in the SEABL in scoring with 17 points per game and ninth in assists with 3.4 per game and is averaging 5 rebounds per game.

Jimmy Possum Bendigo Spirit coach Bernie Harrower said he has been impressed with Pardonís performances in the SEABL and is confident the high scoring guard can be a threat in WNBL.

ìLisa is a versatile shooting guard who is good defender and a constant scoring threat, especially from behind the three point line,î Harrower said.

ìSheís also had a good breadth of basketball experience having had a stand out junior career, playing at Oregon University, as well as semi-professionally in Australia and New Zealand.ì

Pardon will relocate to Bendigo once her SEABL commitments in Launceston are completed.

ìI am extremely excited about coming to Bendigo to play for the Spirit under Bernie and alongside some fantastic players that have already signed.

ìI think itís a great opportunity for my first season in the WNBL to be playing under such a well respected coach and within such a supportive and basketball loving community.

ìI want to improve my game and further my basketball career, so Bendigo was the best fit for me.î
