NZ Tall Black Craig Bradshaw continued his impressive debut in the Australian Hummer Championship NBL, averaging 17.0 points as his Brisbane Bullets gathered to more wins in Round Three.
Bradshaw had 13 points (5/11 FG, 1/2 3pt, 2/2 FT), four rebounds and a block in the defending championsí 116-107 win over Perth Wildcats. He then accumulated 21 points (7/11 FG, 3/6 3pt, 4/7 FT) and six rebounds in Brisbaneís runaway 113-84 win over Townsville Crocs, running their record to 4-0 for the season.
Kiwi team-mate Dillon Boucher had two points (1/2 FG), five rebounds, an assist and a block in 21 minutes against the Crocs.
Tall Black skipper Pero Cameron was promoted to the Gold Coast Blaze starting line-up after centre Ben Melmeth was ruled out through injury and contributed a solid performance in their 90-96 loss to unbeaten Melbourne Tigers.
Cameron had 13 points (5/10 FG, 3/6 3pt), three assists, two rebounds and a steal before fouling out after 31 minutes. Fellow Tall Black Casey Frank also fouled out against the Tigers monster frontcourt, scoring 12 points (5/10 FG, 2/3 FT) and adding five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in 35 minutes off the bench.
Waikato Pistons import Jason Crowe lead the Blaze in scoring with 20 points (7/17 FG, 4/10 FG, 2/2 FT), eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals, but also turned the ball over eight times in his team-high 45 minutes.
Tall Black point guard Lindsay Tait was set for promotion into the Wollongong Hawksí starting line-up against Cairns Taipans, but missed the game after dislocating his shoulder in a recovery session. In his absence, Canterbury guard Jeremy Kench played 10 minutes off the bench.
Tall Black point guard Mark Dickel played his first game for defending champions Brose Baskets Bamberg in the German Bundesliga, helping them to a 57-55 win over EWE Baskets Oldenburg in their season opener. Dickel had three points (1/5 FG, 1/4 3pt), three rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes off the bench.
