Two of the NZ Breakers’ high-profile players – Tom Abercrombie and Corey Webster – will be rested when the Breakers play their first game since winning the Australian NBL title in Christchurch on Tuesday night.
Abercrombie is putting the final touches to his preparation after ankle surgery and will not be risked, while Webster is finishing the final days of his year-long suspension for a drug-code violation.
The Breakers face the Wollongong Hawks in three games with the troupe traveling from Christchurch to Dunedin to play two days later, before finishing at Hamilton on Saturday.
