Tall Fern Micaela Cocks was promoted into the starting five and sparked University of Oregon to a 66-45 win over Long Beach State in in US college basketball.
Cocks, a sophomore, had 11 points (4/9 FG, 2/5 3pt, 1/1 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes as the Ducks avenged an 11-point road loss in the corresponding fixture 12 months, improving to 4-2 this season.
Tall Fern Aroha Jennings was one of only two University of Memphis players to score in double figures as they struggled to a 57-92 loss to Mississippi State University.
Jennings provided 11 points (3/5 FG, 5/6 FT), five rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal in 32 minutes, but the Tigers were never in it after conceding eight unanswered points midway through the first half, falling to 2-5 for the season.
Rotorua centre Te Awhina Aranui was solid for Cascade College, but fouled out in overtime of a 95-103 loss to Northwest Christian.
Aranui had nine points (3/9 FG, 3/4 FT), 10 rebounds, four steals and an assist in 25 minutes as the Thunderbirds fell to 6-3 for the season.
