Triple-doubles are rare in the Dominion Finance NBL – there has not been one since computerised statistics began in 2000 – and Jason Crowe’s propelled him to round three Player of the Week honours.
The American point guard had 25 points, including 5-of-7 on threes, 11 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals in the Waikato Pistons 96-72 rout of Devon Dynamos Taranaki in Hamilton on Saturday night.
Crowe – who set a new NBL record (since 2000) with 16 assists in round two against the CPS Nelson Giants – beat out round two POW Casey Frank (Youthtown Auckland Stars), who had two top-five performances in round three, and team-mate Brian Wethers, who followed up a 40-point effort with 35 points on Saturday.
Crowe extended his lead in the NBL Player Power Rankings to nine points, with Wethers joining Frank in a tie for second, with a big gap back to fourth-place Marley Canterbury Rams point guard Jeremy Kench.
