Tall Fern Micaela Cocks led University of Oregon with seven points (3/7 FG, 1/4 3pt), two rebounds and a steal, but couldn’t save them from a 34-53 beating at the hands of University of Cal Berkeley, the ninth-ranked team in US college basketball.
The Ducks slump to 10-14 for the season and 4-9 in Pac-10 conference play.
Elsewhere in the Pac-10, Junior Tall Fern Kezia Kelly had nine points (2/9 FG, 1/3 3pt, 4/4 FT), five rebounds and two assists as Washington State University fell 46-64 to University of Southern California, slumping to 3-20 for the season and still winless (0-12) in the conference.
Canterbury centre Donna Lavea returned from injury to help Lambuth University best Bethel College 85-70, extending to an eight-game winning streak.
Lavea came off the bench for 13 points (4/4 FG, 5/8 FT), four rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in 13 minutes as the defending NAIA champions improved to 17-7 for the season, 9-3 in the TranSouth Conference.
Kiwi guard Amanda Harris had 11 points (5/9 FG, 1/1 FT), six assists, six steals and two rebounds to help College of the Siskiyous to a 73-68 win over Butte, their fifth straight win on their way to a 20-5 record.
