Even though their playoff dreams vanished last week, Devon Dynamos Taranaki showed some fight in the Dominion Finance NBL on Wednesday night.

Down six points entering the fourth, Taranaki outscored the Property Brokers Manawatu Jets 19-10 in the final period, holding on for a 76-73 home win in round 15 at TSB Stadium in New Plymouth.

Forward Link Abrams and centre Tony Rampton posted double-doubles, while American shooting guard Keith Salscheider scored 11 of his 16 points in the fourth period as Taranaki lifted for their eighth win, consigning the Jets to their 13th loss.

Abrams had a game-high 24 points and 18 rebounds, including nine offensive, to go with four steals and three assists and Rampton had 13 points and 16 rebounds as the Dynamos dominated the boards 51-36 and won despite shooting 15 percent (2-of-13) from behind the arc and 60 percent from the free-throw line.

Manawatu were led by American point guard Kantrail Horton with 23 points, while import forward Keith Davis had 16 points, but was held scoreless in the second half, and James Paringatai added 12 points.

Taranaki finish their season at home on Saturday against the playoff-bound Appliance Shed Harbour Heat, while Manawatu host the CPS Nelson Giants.
