Basketball New Zealand is seeking expressions of interest to host a variety of international and national basketball events scheduled for 2009.
These events include, but are not limited to:
Tall Blacks and Tall Ferns
• FIBA Oceania Championships for Men (2010 FIBA World Championship qualification) – Tall Blacks v Australia, one or possibly two home games in mid July or late August
• FIBA Oceania Championships for Women (2010 FIBA World Championship qualification) – Tall Ferns v Australia, one or possibly two home games in late August or early September
• International series for the Tall Blacks (early-mid July) and Tall Ferns (mid-late August), depending on ability to secure visiting teams

Applications close: December 5, 2008
FIBA U19 World Championship for Men 2009 – pre-tournament games
• Currently five of 16 teams have expressed an interest to play games prior to the championships, with more expected. The format of these games is yet to be determined, and will depend on the teams. Some options could include, but not be limited to:
• A 3-4 team tournament
• A single game
• A series (couple of games) between two teams
• There will be other options also depending on the association and the teams involved
Dates still to be confirmed, but likely to be late June
Applications close: December 5, 2008
FIBA U17 Oceania Championship for Men and Women (2010 FIBA World Championship qualification)
• Three game series for men
• Three game series for women
Dates to be confirmed, but probably August/September. Men’s and women’s series may be held at the same or different venues.
Applications close: January 1, 2009
Three-On-Three Events
Starting in January/February to go throughout the year. Possibly one to two tournaments in your region.
At this stage, we can not confirm dates, but BBNZ seeks expressions of interest from associations or franchises to host these events.
Requirements will differ for each event and BBNZ will provide more details once we have confirmed games and dates.
