Sunday’s final session at the FIBA U19 World Championship is edging towards a sell-out.

With three-quarters of tickets for the tournament’s medal games – the final and third-place playoff –at the North Shore Events Centre sold as of Friday night, event director Dave Mee hoped Sunday night’s final session would bring a capacity crowd of 4200.

“We’ve had great crowds throughout the tournament and we would love the final to be a packed house at the North Shore Events Centre,” Mee said.

“It’s great that tickets are proving a popular item. Obviously, the exciting Junior Tall Blacks games last week and the overall quality of the games at this tournament have really captured the public’s imagination.

“People are realising this is the best show in town.”

Greece, Australia, Croatia and the USA advanced to the semifinals on Friday.

Greece ran away from Argentina in the second half to win 86-60, Australia rode clutch outside shooting to get by France 79-73 and remain unbeaten, Croatia fought off Puerto Rico 91-78 and the Americans eased by their northern neighbours, Canada, 93-73 in the final game of the night.

Tickets can be purchased online from Ticketek, at Ticketek locations or at the North Shore Events Centre.
