For the second time in three weeks of the Dominion Finance NBL season, Youthtown Auckland Stars forward Casey Frank earned Player of the Week honours.
Frank had 23 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block in the Stars 92-82 win over the Cartridge World Otago Nuggets on Thursday night.
The 2.03m forward beat out team-mate Adrian Majstrovich, Appliance Shed Harbour Heat guard Hayden Allen, departing Century City Wellington Saints centre Nick Horvath and new Nuggets import Lemar Gayle for the POW title.
Frank is the only player in the League averaging a double-double for the season, with 25.0 points (tied for second behind Waikato Pistons guard Brian Wethers) and 10.0 rebounds a game (tied for first with Horvath).
Waikato Pistons point guard Jason Crowe saw his lead in the Player Power Rankings over Frank reduced to just over two points, his 12 assists against the Manawatu OzJets seeing him averaging 13.3 per game for the season. Gayle averaged 25 points per game over Easter weekend, making his debut appearance in the Player Power Rankings at number three.
