Gilbert, Gray Take Wins

Adrianne Gilbert and former Nelson Giants forward Rowan Gray were the only Kiwis to enjoy wins in Australia Basketball Association (ABA) leagues last weekend.
Gilbert had 16 points (6/15 FG, 4/10 FT), 12 rebounds, two steals and an assist in 29 minutes as her Bankstown Bruins improved to 9-0 with a 78-51 win over Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in round 14 of the Waratah League.
Gray, who played 11 games to the Giants in 2008, produced 13 points (6/8 FG, 1/2 FT), two rebounds and four assists in seven minutes in the defending ABA national champion Cairns Marlins 107-77 win over the Gladstone Port City Power at home in round 10 of the Queensland Australia Basketball League (QABL).
Former Manawatu Jets centre Miles Pearce had 28 points (11/25 FG, 0/2 3pt, 6/9 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in 43 minutes and Emerging Tall Blacks guard Zane Meehl 23 points (8/18 FG, 4/10 3pt, 3/3 FT), six rebounds and three assists in 41 minutes as the Mackay Meteors fell 94-83 at home to the fourth-placed Northside Wizards in the QABL.
Still in the Sunshine State, Zeke Meehl had two points (0/4 FG, 0/2 3pt, 2/4 FT), and two rebounds in Maroochydore Clippers 109-81 loss to the competition-leading South West Metro Pirates, keeping them winless.
In the South East Australia Basketball League (SEABL), former Tall Fern Julie Ofsoski recorded 17 points (6/11 FG, 5/8 FT), seven rebounds, and a steal in 25 minutes in Frankston Lady Blues 93-59 loss to the Bendigo Lady Braves in round 16, then followed with five points (2/8 FG, 0/1 3pt, 1/2 FT), three rebounds, in 26 minutes in 68-58 loss to Southern Districts Spartans.
Gemma Kerr, sister of Tall Fern Aneka Kerr, had 21 points (7/15, 5/10, 2/5), three assists and an assist in 21 minutes in the Kilsyth Cobras 100-89 loss to the Nunawading Spectres in round 16.
Former Tall Fern Jess Spinner racked up 11 points (4/9 FG, 1/2 3pt, 2/2 FT), four rebounds and an assist in 21 minutes in her Wanneroo Wolves 89-58 win over East Perth in round 13 of the State Basketball League in Western Australia.
