NZ Tall Fern centre Jess McCormack returned to action after missing time with a sprained ankle, but was unable to spark University of Washington to a win against Pepperdine University.
McCormack injured the ankle in practice two weeks ago and missed a showdown with fellow Kiwi Kim Barnes in the Huskies’ 87-69 win over UC Irvine earlier this week.
Coach Tia Jackson eased her back into the rotation with 10 minutes off the bench in the 56-74 loss to Pepperdine and McCormack responded with a pair of free throws, two rebounds and a block.
Washington are now 5-6 for the season.
Canterbury centre Donna Lavea helped Lambuth College to their fourth consecutive win, a 77-72 result over West Virginia University Tech.
Lavea contributed 18 points (9/14 FG), six rebounds and a block in 22 minutes as the defending NAIA champions improved their record to 5-4 for the season.
Kiwi guard Amanda Harris made the tournament team as her College of the Siskiyous finished the Conta Costa Tourney with a 2-1 record. Over the three games, she averaged 10.7 points (50% FG, 55.6% 3pt, 81.8% FT), 7.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals.
The Siskiyous get a chance to avenge their one-point loss to Chabot, when they visit them on December 13.
