NZ Tall Black Phill Jones scored 11 points off the bench, but couldnít prevent Tisettanta Cantu slipping to a 69-80 loss to Whirlpool Varese in the Italian Lega A.
Jones shot 4/9 FG, 1/4 3pt, 2/3 FT, adding two rebounds and two steals in 25 minutes.
Cantu are still hanging tough at 16-16 for the season, holding down the eighth and final playoff spot with two more regular season games remaining. They face Eldo Napoli (fifth) at home and TDShop.it Livorno (18th and last) away in final rounds.
Meanwhile, Tall Black Kirk Penney is out of action for Alba Berlin after undergoing a hernia operation.
Berlin have already clinched the German Bundesliga regular season title with two rounds remaining and Penney expects to return to the court in time for playoffs.
