With his two 20-plus point games in round seven, Marley Canterbury Rams point guard Jeremy Kench became the first New Zealand-born player and second Kiwi to earn Player Of The Week honours in the 2008 Dominion Finance NBL.

Kench shot 10-of-18 from the field and added eight rebounds, five assists and four steals in the Rams 89-71 win over the Youthtown Auckland Stars on Thursday night, Canterbury’s second win of the campaign, then had five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Rams loss to the Appliance Shed Harbour Heat the following night.

Kench edged out team-mate, American import Wilder Auguste, newly acquired Cartridge World Otago Nuggets import Antoine Tisby, Devon Dynamos Taranaki forward Link Abrams, Century City Wellington Saints point guard Luke Martin and Stars forward Dillon Boucher in a tight PoW race.
