Marcel Jones Jets to POW

McDonalds Manawatu Jets import Marcel Jones continues to impress being named Round Eight Player of the Week in the NZCT National Basketball League.
Jones scored 38 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had 2 blocks in arguably the upset of the season as the Jets took down the 0800 Easy LPG Bay Hawks 107-93.
Jones has been one of the best players in season, currently ranked third in the league in scoring (27.6 ppg) and is fourth in rebounding (10.5 rpg). In his last three games he is averaging just over 38 points per game and has shot up to number three in the Player Power Rankings.
Another notable performance in Round Eight was Jones’s new teammate Jamil Terrell who has made an instant impact since joining the Jets. Terrell had 22 points (8/10 FG, 6/6 FT) and 10 rebounds in the same game. Terrell is leading the league in rebounding at 12 per game.
ecogise Nelson Giants Phil Jones continued his form scoring 32 points and grabbing 5 steals in a 80-69 win over the Bartercard Christchurch Cougars. Jones scored 15 in the final period to give the Giants win number eight of the season, also keeping them at the top of the table.
Century City Saints forward Arthur Trousdell was impressive in their 104-78 victory against the Devon Dynamos Taranaki scoring a career high 33 points, while his team mate Mike Efevberha scored 23 to maintain his lead at the top of the Player Power Rankings.
