After a tumultuous week, NZ Tall Fern point guard Angela Marino has helped her Adelaide Lightning to a pair of wins in the Australian Defence Force WNBL.

MarinoĆs father Vince, who owns the Lightning franchise, fired coach Chris Lucas on Wednesday, replacing him with former Opals point guard Vicki Valk.

Adelaide responded in the best possible fashion with wins over Bendigo Spirit (96-83) and Bulleen Boomers (94-87), and now sit in second place on the points table with a 3-1 record.
Against Bendigo, Marino had 10 points (3/7 FG, 2/4 3pt, 2/2 FT), five rebounds and three assists. Across the court, fellow Kiwi international Lisa Pardon had 15 points (6/10 FG, 2/4 3pt, 1/2 FT), a rebound and a steal for the Spirit.

Marino contributed nine points (2/7 FG, 1/3 3pt, 4/6 FT), three assists, a steal and a rebound against Bulleen.

After their encouraging debut in the league, Bendigo came crashing to earth with a pair of road defeats in Round Three. Pardon was more subdued – eight points (2/9 FG, 2/6 3pt, 2/2 FT), two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in their 67-80 loss to Perth Lynx.
