Mitchell Takes Reins

Canterbury Basketball Association has appointed Gareth Mitchell as its new CEO.

Currently employed as pperations manager with the Central YMCA Qualifications organisation in London, Mitchell has a Masters of Science degree in Organisational Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts.

“We are delighted to have been able to secure Gareth for the leadership role with CBA,” said president Peter Dwan.

“He has an obvious and proven passion for basketball, and has endorsed his academic qualifications with employment experience as an operations and business manager.

“We are confident his financial management and strategic capabilities will serve the Canterbury basketball community, well as the sport moves into its next stage of development.”

Mitchell is looking forward to the opportunities and challenges of the new role.

“It is an exciting time for Canterbury basketball. I am truly looking forward to working with the basketball community in order to drive the success of the sport in the region and at a national and international level,” he said.

Mitchell will take up the CEO role in late December.
