Former Wellington Saints forward Jamal Livingston will return to Dominion Finance NBL as an import on the Cartridge World Otago Nuggets roster next season.

Livingston has spent time with the Harlem Globetrotters and over the last several years in Malaysia, China, Venezuela, Chile and Mexico. His resume includes a six-game stint with the Saints in 2006, during which he averaged 12.3 points and 4.8 rebounds, shooting 44.4% 3pt.

‚ÄúWe‚Äôre excited about Jamal‚Äôs decision to sign with us,” says Nuggets general manager Warrick Diack. “He‚Äôs a big man with a big reputation.‚Äù

“Jamal was named an All Star in the International Basketball League (IBL) in 2007 with the Phoenix Flame’s in America.

“He came to play with the Wellington Saints in 2006 under the current Australian Boomers assistant coach Gordy Mcleod and Nuggets head coach Don Sims believes he‚Äôs all class. It‚Äôs the sort of signing that we really need.‚Äù

‚ÄúCoach Sims knows the American players well … these are the guys he‚Äôs coached, this is his ground, there‚Äôs certainly less risk in recruiting when you have a coach that‚Äôs based there right at the coal face.‚Äù

Livingston is set to arrive in Dunedin in late January in time for the start of the Nuggets formal training camp which starts on February 4, 2008.
