NZ Tall Ferns Kate McMeeken-Ruscoe and Lisa Pardon went head-to-head in the South East Australia Basketball League Ö and Pardon came away with the bragging rights as Launceston Tornadoes beat Frankston Lady Blues 101-96.
McMeeken-Ruscoe actually led all scorers with 33 points (12/31 FG, 8/12 3pt, 1/3 FT), five rebounds and four assists in her final tune-up before joining the Ferns for their tour of Japan next week. But Pardon, who will miss the tour, was solid for the Tornadoes, contributing 20 points (7/13 FG, 4/9 3pt, 2/2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and a block.
Launceston had earlier fallen 62-91 to Bendigo Lady Braves. Pardon led her team with 16 points (6/15 FG, 3/6 3pt, 1/2 FT), three rebounds and four assists.
In the New South Wales Waratah Basketball League, Kiwi Charmian Purcell recorded another ìdouble doubleî, but couldnít get her Parramatta Wildcats out of jail against Manly Warringah.
Manly won 52-51 despite Purcellís 19 points (8/15 FG, 3/4 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
