Tall Blacks captain and NZ Breakers guard Kirk Penney has continued to impress in the NBA D-League, going for 40 points for the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Saturday.
Penney shot 16-of-23 from the floor and 5-of-6 on three-point attempts for his new season-high in the Skyforce’s 123-110 road win over the Bakersfield Jam in their penultimate game of the regular season.
Sioux Falls closes out their regular season against the Jam on Sunday (NZ time), before the NBA D-League playoffs next week.
Penney added eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in 44 minutes, starting at small forward, just days after he had 31 points, four rebounds and three assists in his second game for the Skyforce.
Sioux Falls are currently fourth overall, second in the East Conference, but could still get by the Austin Toros for the league’s third-best record going into the postseason.
