Century City Saints big man Damon Thornton earns Round Nine Player of the Week after a strong performance over the Devon Dynamos Taranaki.
Thornton tallied 18 points (8/13 FG), 17 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in the Saints 107-59 rout over the Dynamos. In eight games Thornton is averaging 14.9 points, 8 rebounds and is currently leading the league in block shots at 1.8 per game. Thornton is also 6th in the league in field goal percentage at 55.6 percent.
Bartercard Christchurch Cougars guard Gerard Bowden was unlucky not to win POW honors scoring 35 in the 92-76 win over the Youthtown Auckland Stars and backed it up with 30 points in a 75-73 win over the Appliance Shed Harbour Heat.
Waikato Pistons import Adam Ballinger had a fantastic Round Nine with a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds comfortably beating the 0800 Easy LPG Bay Hawks 86-66. Ballinger then went on to score 27 points in the 104-67 romp of the McDonalds Manawatu Jets.
Saints import Mike Efevberha still remains on top of the Player Power Rankings, closely followed by the Jets Marcel Jones and the Stars Dillon Boucher.
