Referee Action Days
Tagged in: Officials
Basketball New Zealand is encouraging all referees and coach-evaluators to attend one of the three Action Days in Timaru, Palmerston North and Waitakere later this month.
The two-day camps are part of BBNZ’s 5-10 year plan to ensure the development of basketball in all areas, including officiating.
Referees are encouraged, like players and coaches to take part in these camps to receive intense, up-to-date professional development to further themselves in refereeing basketball. This is a pathway that will be used to move more quality referees into national championship tournaments, the CBL, WNBL, NBL and the international arena.
Day one will have a national leagues focus with referees interested in refereeing in the NBL, CBL and WNBL having to pass the beep test and theory exam, as well as participate in the Points of Emphasis clinic. Day two will give referees the opportunity to whistle scrimmage games for the camp and be evaluated by senior evaluators. This will be ideal for referees who do not have the opportunity to have regular evaluations.
All referees and referee coach-evaluators are expected to wear Basketball New Zealand branded clothing during the Action Day.
