Applications for 2009 Prime Minister’s Scholarships for athletes, coaches, support team members and officials can now be submitted online.
The Prime Minister’s Scholarship programme is managed by Sparc on behalf of the government.
The purpose of the scholarships for athletes is to enable emerging and talented New Zealanders to concurrently pursue tertiary study and elite level sport development.
The purpose of the scholarships for coaches, support team members and officials is to develop skills that contribute to the quality of New Zealand’s sport performance at the elite level.
Scholarships are aligned to Sparc’s High Performance Strategy 2006-2012 and scholarship recipients must be capable of impacting Sparc’s high performance mission – More New Zealanders winning on the world stage.
All interested applicants are encouraged to discuss their application with Basketball New Zealand before making an application.
Applications for athletes can be submitted online at http://www.sparc.org.nz/elite-sport/athletes/prime-ministers-athlete-scholarships/registration and for coaches, support team members and officials at http://www.sparc.org.nz/elite-sport/coaching/Prime-Ministers-Coach-Scholarship-Programme/registration.
Applications must be submitted before COB Friday, November 14, 2008. Basketball New Zealand is required to consider and endorse all applications for Sparc to decide which applicants are awarded scholarships.
