With championship trophies in their hands, four players also took home Most Valuable Player honours at the Oreo Under-13 & Under-15 National Championships in Rotorua on Friday night.

With a dominating performance in their 60-58 win over North Harbour, Canterbury’s Brandon Gleaves took home the under-13 boys MVP, while Tessa Boagni took home the girls award after Canterbury held off Harbour for a 61-60 win.

Waikato did the double in the under-15 grade, with Kurt Heatherley claiming the boys MVP after an 88-82 win over Nelson, and Veshae Wilkinson, who hit the winning free-throw, got the girls accolade after a 63-62 victory against Waitakere City.
