U21 Nationals Day One

Porirua and North Harbour men ended day one at the Oreo Under-21 National Championships with perfect 2-0 records.

Porirua edged by Waitakere 76-71 in the morning, thanks to 25 points from Evan Bishop, then rolled to a 117-56 rout of Mid Canterbury in the afternoon, Brooke Ruscoe scoring 34 and Jordan Mills 26.

North Harbour had the same start in reverse, strolling by Mid Canterbury 99-67 in game one and getting 22 points from Lydon Aoake to defeat strong contenders Nelson 87-84 in the afternoon.

Wellington were the only women’s team with two games on day one, winning both to top the standings. Jasmine Davis scored 23 and Shiana-Rose Harris 20 in Wellington’s 87-71 win over Nelson in round one, and Harris top-scored with 12 in a 56-45 victory against neighbours Hutt Valley.
