Wanted: Development Officer

Sport Waikato, in partnership with local basketball associations and the SportsForce programme, needs an energetic and positive person to drive club, school and junior programmes.
The successful applicant will proactively support basketball associations to grow their player and volunteer base, upskill coaches and to develop and link school programmes with clubs and associations.
We are seeking a development leader with:
- Credentials and experience in basketball
- An understanding of community needs particularly in terms of basketball
- An empathy for basketball volunteers (coaches, administrators, officials)
- A track record of making a positive contribution to basketball
- Outstanding communication, networking and presentation competencies
- Outstanding organisational and administrative skills
- Knowledge of the sport and recreation industry and an understanding of club and school sport
- A proven ability to empower others
This is a full time position with regular weekend and evening work and is a great job for someone with a passion for basketball, keen to meet lots of new people, wanting a challenge, and wanting to make a positive impact on young people.
