A unique opportunity has arisen at Basketball New Zealand for a director with extensive senior level sports management experience within the high performance area to lead the organisation’s Performance Group.

The purpose of the role is to implement programmes to achieve the organisation’s core strategies of athlete achievement and development in the international arena.

Key functions of the role include:

  • Leadership of the Performance Group including BBNZ staff, elite athletes, coaches and team staff
  • planning, implementation and monitoring of high performance plans
  • Management of the high performance budget
  • Performance and knowledge management of all high Performance programmes
  • Manage player development pathways
  • Manage coach development pathways
  • Oversee delivery of the league and tournament programmes

To be successful in this role, you must have proven sports management experience within the high performance area and ideally national and international involvement in sports administration at a management level.

You will have an understanding of basketball and a passion to lead the development of the sport within New Zealand.
