Trojans on the rise at WBC

Taranaki Trojans continued to ascend the Women’s Basketball Championship table with their second win on the opening day of play at Tournament Two.
Entering the weekend with a 3-3 record. the Trojans inflicted the hometown Hutt Vally Flyers with their first loss of the season in the morning and followed up with another victory over Southland Kelvin Hotel Pearls in the afternoon.
Waitakere West Auckland also hung around the top of the pile with a 71-51 whitewash of crosstown rivals Harbour Breeze.
Improving their record to a 5-2, the Rangers were led by guard Chevannah Paalvast, back home from her scholarship at Monmouth University, who had 24 points to lead all scorers.
In the other early match-up, defending champions Otago Oceana Goldrush got their campaign back on track with a 63-48 result over neighbours Southland, led by 17 points from Southern Steel netballer Jodi Brown.
