WBC opening round redraw

The withdrawal of Te Tai Tokerau Phoenix has prompted a new draw for the 2012 Women’s Basketball Championship’s opening weekend at Nelson, June 22-24.
Champions Oceana Goldrush open their title defence against Rotorua Lady Vols on Friday, June 22, and face a major challenge on Sunday, when they take on the team they deposed for the crown – Harbour Breeze.
Rotorua will make their WBC debut on Friday morning against Canterbury Wildcats, while Waitakere West Auckland Rangers meet Kelvin Hotel Southland Pearls that same morning in their first outing at this level.
The competition, now reduced to 11 teams, will continue with another round at Lower Hutt (July 20-22) and the championship round at Dunedin (August 23-25).
