Website Sets New Standards

Basketball New Zealand’s website – www.basketball.org.nz - continues to set records in 2008.
For the second straight month, the website received a record number of average daily visits in May, while Tuesday, June 3, produced a new single day record with 2101 visitors.
With increasing interest in the Dominion Finance NBL and Tall Ferns international campaign, basketball.org.nz had an average 1414 visitors per day in May, eclipsing the 1232 average recorded last year, while April’s number of 1207 was up from 1067 of 12 months ago.
“It’s a great result for the website and the team of people that work at all hours to upgrade, improve and update it,” Basketball New Zealand national teams and communications general manager Grant Chapman said.
“With the website revamp, through our web design partner CatchDesign, going online in March last year, we’re now able to offer more news and features, along with necessary information for the basketball community.”
Already, in the first four days of June, the website has received an average 1833 hits per day – on the back of the Oreo Under-17 and Under-19 National Championships and a Queen’s Birthday Monday NBL game - and with the Dominion Finance NBL Playoffs and Tall Blacks 2008 campaign still to come, Chapman expected June to be another record month.
“And there is still so much more to happen in 2008, with the Tall Blacks at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the Tall Ferns at the Beijing Olympics, the NBL Playoffs, BBNZ national tournaments and junior national teams in action.”
